PER SKARENG (SWEDEN)

After soloist diploma and debut in 1985 with Rodrigo´s ”Concierto de Aranjuez” with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra  under Jorma Panula and after having won many prizes and awards in many international guitar competitions, Per Skareng established himself as one of the foremost guitar players of the Nordic countries.

Some of his appearances with orchestra have been with the Stockholm Royal Philharmonc Orchestra/Järvi (Rodrigo”Aranjuez”), with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra/Hirokami (Ponce”Concierto del Sur”), with Macedonia S.O./Opela (Villa-Lobos ”Concerto”), Gävleborgs S.O./Hughes (Rodrigo ”Concierto para una Fiesta”).

Per Skareng´s  debut CD ”El Colibri”, Caprice has attracted great attention.
The title piece has for many years been used as a signature for a classical music radio programme in France and Switzerland. On the same label Per Skareng has also recorded with Tobias Carron, the solo-flutist of the Swedish Radio S.O.  two CD´s containing music from Italy, ”Play Italian Music”, and ”Café 1930” with South-American and Spanish music.

After a successful debut in Wigmore hall, London Per Skareng has toured a o Argentina, Cuba, Estonia and Switzerland. In 2006 he will for example give concerts in Ekenäs, Finland in Tallin, Estonia in Oslo, Norway and throughout Sweden.

Per Skareng teaches at the Music College in Pietarsaari, Finland and at Mälardalens University in Västerås, Sweden. He has also been a guest lecturer at the music colleges of  Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki and Copenhagen.
